A quick note to say: Image 200!
A big milestone for me, I’m just sorry it didn’t come sooner. I really wanted Image 200 to be something special and I’ve had all sorts of fantastic plans since about Image 180. But, typically, I simply didn’t have the time to do all of these grand ideas. I tried many things before this piece but realised I simply wasn’t enjoying the work. So, instead of anything incredibly fancy, I’m going to celebrate Image 200 with a homage to one of the greatest video games of all time, Final Fantasy 7.

This is of course Cloud Strife. Or whatever you called him in your version of the game (I look at him and all I see is “Tom” for me; boring I know).

As those who follow my Twitter Account would know, I’ve been playing through Final Fantasy 7 again and thoroughly enjoying every minute of it. I haven’t enjoyed a game this much in such a long time, and with anything that I truly like, I end up drawing a picture of it.

I’ve wanted to draw something like this for some time, a very simple portrait half in the shadow and half in the light. I figured I could use Cloud’s Mako eyes as a neat finish to the simplistic portrait. It’s also a chance to draw my take on the guy. Really not too keen on the Advent Children incarnation of him…

Happy, erm, 200th image! Wahoo!
