I recently stumbled across work by James Nares (see inspiration) who seems to specialise in simple paint brush stroke paintings. It’s not normally the kind of thing that I’ll bother with, but they caught my eye as being something more than just brush strokes.

I have no idea what the artists’ intention is, but when I looked at them all I could see is how they could be interpreted as something else – in particular I could see hair shapes in the brush strokes and from that faces formed.

Anyway, this is just a experimental quicky. For some bizarre reason I did this all in Photoshop, when I could of done it in seconds with an actual brush… but my tablet is in reach; my paint brushes are not!

This would look beautiful painted onto a wall hanging, it reminds me of Japanese calligraphy.

Thanks Some people here are asking for exactly that already. If someone does get one I’ll snap a photo!
